Kyle Walker is all set for an extended spell on the sidelines following the successful surgery on his right elbow. AC Milan, who got Walker on a loan from Manchester City, had said earlier that the English player fractured his elbow but didn’t give a clear time frame regarding the veteran’s recovery. “To ensure better healing and optimise recovery time, the player underwent surgery in Milan to repair the olecranon through osteosynthesis,” said Milan in the statement on April 8. After the successful operation, the club remarked, “The operation went perfectly to plan. Kyle will begin rehabilitation immediately.”
Walker became a part of AC Milan in January 2025 after serving Manchester City for seven-and-a-half years. The 34-year-old dazed a lot of people associated with the game after requesting the English club the transfer. City was going through a tough phase then and Walker as a captain could also feel pressure as his performance witnessed a slump. Walker played 319 games for City and recorded six Premier League (PL) title successes and the trophy victory in the Champions League 2023. He made his debut for AC Milan against Inter Milan on February 2. He has played 12 matches thus far under the leadership of Sérgio Conceição, who is the manager of the Milan.
Alex Jimenez or Alessandro Florenzi might replace Walker in AC Milan
AC Milan coach Conceição might trust Alex Jimenez or Alessandro Florenzi to fill Walker’s boots. Florenzi joined the squad in March after returning from a cruciate ligament tear. The 34-year-old is yet to feature in the line-up after recovering from the injury.
Milan are currently in ninth spot on the Serie A 2024-25 points tally with 13 wins and nine losses in 31 outings. Their next clash is against Udinese at the Bluenergy Stadium on April 12. Udinese are holding 11th position on the tally with 11 victories and 13 defeats in 31 contests.
