India’s only representative in the Champions League, Mumbai City FC, made history in the 2022-23 season of the Indian Super League as they won their second title to become one of the most successful clubs in the ISL. Nassaji Mazandaran is an Iranian club that features in the Persian Gulf Pro League. In fact, FC Nassaji Mazandaran didn't even compete in the first division of Iranian league football until the 2018–19 campaign. They were eventually promoted to the Iran Pro League in 2018 after languishing for decades in the second tier (Azedegan). Although the Iranian team is new to this type of tournament, they have a powerful team that can undoubtedly compete with the ISL's top teams. FC Nassaji has had a rocky start to the 2023–24 Iran Pro League season, winning just one of their first four games. They have had trouble scoring goals, managing just two in their first three games.
