Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the first two out of three upcoming ODIs against Sri Lanka with a lower back injury. The Afghanistan Cricket Board on Wednesday gave its confirmation that the 24-year-old cricketer won’t be a part of the first two ODIs against Sri Lanka. The youngster is expected to return for the series final match, slated on June 7. Notably, Rashid Khan was a part of the IPL finalists Gujarat Titans. However, the youngster wasn’t present to collect his IPL ‘Catch of the Season' award leading to a few speculations.

The Afghan board confirmed that the ace bowler sustained a low back injury forcing him out of the first two games against Sri Lanka. The official tweet read, “Low Back Injury rules Rashid Khan out of the first two ODIs against Sri Lanka. Afghanistan’s Bowling Ace @rashidkhan_19 has sustained a low back injury which forces him out of the first two games against @OfficialSLC. Get well soon Champ! 🤲''

However,  the officials have also stated that as per the reports by the team’s physio, he will remain under observation and is expected to return for the June 7 game. “The team physio’s report confirms the injury and states that he will remain under full medical observation and is expected to return for the final ODI on June 7,” the ACB said in another tweet.
