In the T20I format, the Indian cricket team has had better results while chasing down targets. Hence with the ongoing series against Afghanistan sealed at 2-0, the captain Rohit Sharma decided to bat first in the third and final contest, posing a more difficult challenge for his teammates in their last T20I before the T20 World Cup 2024.

But, the Indian batters fell away like ninepins in the powerplay, with the extra bounce from the Afghanistan fast bowlers Fareed Ahmad and Azmatullah Omarzai doing the trick. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shivam Dube, and Sanju Samson lost their wickets for single-digit scores in quick succession, which put the hosts in a precarious position at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Here are some of the fan reactions after India suffered early collapse against Afghanistan:

As of this writing, India are 61/4 after 10 overs against Afghanistan with the captain Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh trying to bring the hosts back into the contest. Notably, the Indian captain, who returned to the T20I format after a year’s absence, was dismissed for two ducks in the first two matches of the series.
