In a big update it has been reported that the South Africa ODI players including Aiden Markram, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and David Miller will join their respective IPL franchises on April 3, four days after the tournament commences. This update comes as South Africa will be aiming to beat the Netherlands to directly qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup, scheduled to take place later in India.

 

As informed by ESPNcricinfo, the Cricket South Africa has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on this development. Close to six IPL franchises are likely to be affected by this decision on CSA. Aiden Markram, Henrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen (Sunrisers Hyderabad), Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi (Delhi Capitals), Tristan Stubbs, Dewald Brevis (Mumbai Indians), David Miller (Gujarat Titans), Quinton de Kock (Lucknow Super Giants), Kagiso Rabada (Punjab Kings) are the players who will join their franchises on April 4.

 

At the time of the IPL Player Auction, the BCCI in a note had informed the franchises on the availability of overseas players. In it they had written that South African players would have to be available from March 29, two days prior to the start of the tournament.

 

South Africa and Netherlands will play two-match home ODI series, starting late March. They will play Zimbabwe prior to this series and both are part of the ODI Super League.
