Modern-day India icon Virat Kohli, who took the helm of Indian team for quite some time, opened up on the meaning of happiness for him. The former India skipper, who has played a crucial role in India’s five out of five wins in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, explained how fame, money and power don’t matter at one point of time. In a podcast by his IPL franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kohli said how money and success look good when you don’t have them.

Kohli scored crucial 95 runs in their last match against New Zealand to get the team on the other side of the final line. In the podcast, the star batter could be heard saying, “Fame, success, money, all these things look great when you don’t have them. But to be honest, that is not the key to happiness. I could sit here and say that I have all the three but there are moments where I’m just not happy."

The 34-year-old added, “If 10 years ago you would have told me that you get all this and you will be happy, that’s not true. In every moment that you are a part of with your family, whether you are playing your sport doing anything that you do in life or being in the profession that you are, the fact that you can be yourself in that moment is all that matters.”
Speaking further, Kohli, nicknamed as ‘The King’ said, “You have to keep doing it day and day out. We talk about doing the hard yards and putting in the work. Every day you have to put in the work and being true to yourself is the work of life and no fame, money, and success can get you rid of that because you have to keep doing it. Otherwise, you are miserable.”
Speaking of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, the Men in Blue will lock horns with the reigning champions England on October 29 at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow.
