India wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha on Saturday, February 1 bid adieu to all forms of cricket. The former Indian wicketkeeper, who had spoken of his last match coming at the end of Ranji Trophy 2024-25, played his final game for Bengal against Punjab at his home ground at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Courtesy to Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal’s all-round performance, Bengal cruised to a win by an innings and 13 runs.
However, with this, Saha made his final appearance on the cricket field, having played 49 matches for India across formats, including 40 Tests and nine ODIs. In his professional cricketing career, spanning for 18 years, Saha represented Bengal and Tripura in domestic cricket, featuring in 142 First Class and 116 List A matches after making his debut in November 2007.

After making his final appearance, Saha took to social media to share a heartfelt note. "It has been 28 years since I first stepped onto a cricket field in 1997 and what a journey it has been! Representing my country, state, district, clubs, university, college and school has been the greatest honour of my life," Saha began.
"Everything I am today, every achievement, every lesson learned, I owe it all to this wonderful game. Cricket has given me moments of immense joy, unforgettable victories and invaluable experiences. It has also tested me, shaped me and taught me resilience," he further added in his elaborated message. Notably, the former Indian wicketkeeper's last international appearance came against New Zealand in 2021. After former India captain MS Dhoni's retirement in 2014, Saha had become a regular member of the Indian side, before losing his place to Rishabh Pant.

After Saha’s retirement, star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant posted a heartfelt message, saying, "As a fellow keeper, I have always admired your skills and your craft. Wishing you all the success and happiness in your next chapter @Wriddhipops bhaiya #RP17."
