Following a disappointing season last campaign under their former manager Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid are hoping for a fresh new start after signing the former Los Blancos player & ef-Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso. They will be eager to win major trophies in the upcoming Campaign after not being able to win the La Liga last season and getting eliminated from the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League by Arsenal.
Real Madrid are now currently at the top of their group in the Club World Cup by winning two of their three group stage matches and Madrid will play RB Salzburg in their last group stage match in the CWC, which will decide if they move forward in the tournament or go back home devastated if they are eliminated from the competition.
Real Madrid to make an offer for Alvaro Carreras to Benfica
Under the management of Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid is eager to reshape their squad and build a team which will be very difficult to defeat. After making key signings of players like Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool and Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, Madrid have already started to fill the gaps in the team but the major problem still remains the left-back situation which has been haunting the team for some time now.
Madrid are now reportedly set to make an offer for their own academy product Alvaro Carreras from Benfica. He has been a top priority target for Xabi Alonso who is impressed by the player's versatility and his ability to play in different formations according to the needs of the team. The ex-Manchester United player has had a very successful season at Benfica and is ready to showcase his talent at the top level.
Benfica president Rui Costa spoke about Madrid's interest in signing their left-back Carreras and stated that “they are waiting for an offer from the Spanish side”, and that the Portuguese side are yet to receive an offer for him. It will be interesting to see what happens in this transfer saga after the end of the Club World Cup.
