England is going through a rough patch. Recently they have suffered a disastrous loss in Ashes as 4-1 with sloppy performances and not a single intent. This has questioned a lot about Brendon McCullum’s tenure as head coach and management. Many English players like Livingstone and Reece Topley has also raised voices against England management pointing out selection issues and how players are handled.

Although England skipper Ben Stokes has a different view altogether. He said he believes him and McCullum’s work will lift England’s team up and their method of working together is different.

“I'm very confident in mine and Brendon's ability to be able to work together,” Stokes told the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in an interview.“We've done it for such a long period of time now.But [we] work together in a slightly different way. The main point of me and Brendon is our alignment towards winning things and making this team as good as they can be.” he added.

I am proud how we have changed team’s perspective last four years - Ben Stokes

Stokes further said that he is proud how he and McCullum alongside changed the course of perspective and batting and mindset since 2022. “With what me and Brendon were able to achieve with the group over a four-year period, I just couldn't imagine doing what we were trying to do with anyone else,” said Stokes.

“We're both very proud men in what we do. We put a lot of our heart and soul into this job. Brendon certainly has for the four years he's done it so far, and hopefully we'll still be together at the end of 2027, winning what we want to win.” he added putting an end to all rumors about rift in players and management.

Both Stokes and Brendon McCullum have their contracts till 2027, and with the Ashes and ICC Cricket World Cup coming as major tournaments it will be a test if they will extend their contract.
