Preview:

The Los Angeles Lakers will face off against the Phoenix Suns at the Staples Center on Friday after finding themselves one game apiece in their 2020-21 American Basketball League playoff first-round series. The reigning league champions will now fancy their chances of upsetting the Suns after picking up a win in the last game to secure a tie heading into the third match. While the injury of Chris Paul turned out to be a huge moment in the game and one which cost the Phoenix Suns the Game 2, Lakers' Devin Booker in the defence put on an incredible effort as well.

Analysis:

The Lakers bounced back from a disappointing performance in Game 1 through a rather attacking gameplay in the second. Not only were they efficient in their shots, they were equally good in the defence which restricted the Suns to just eight threes on 30% shooting. Anthony Davis had a great turnaround in Game 2, dropping 34 points, ten rebounds, seven assists, one steal and three blocks. Andre Drummond had an impressive outing too but ultimately it was the key man LeBron James who sunk a dagger three to seal the win for the LA Lakers in the final quarter.

Meanwhile, for the Suns, despite producing an amazing performance in Game 1, their lack of playoff experience clearly showed in the second game. An injury to Chris Paul worsen their case and although Deandre Ayton had 22 points in 11-13 shooting from the field, in addition to ten rebounds, that didn't prove to be enough as the rest of his teammates struggled to regain their mojo from the first game. Now the third game, makes for an epic battle between two sides both whom are refusing to give up.
