As Rohit Sharma-led Team India took the field to kickstart the third Test of the five-match series against England in Rajkot, the Indian management handed Test debut to Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel. While Khan replaced Shreyas Iyer in the XI, Jurel came out in place of KS Bharat after latter’s below-par performance.

Moreover, it was 26-year-old Sarfaraz Khan, who hogged the limelight with his much-awaited debut. This moment of Khan got viral after his father, Naushad Khan was left in tears, including wife as they shared an emotional moment after Anil Kumble handed him the Test cap.

Taking to social media, business tycoon and Chairperson of Mahindra & Mahindra also showered praise for the young batter and his father for being “inspirational”, offering him a car. “‘Himmat nahin chodna, bas!’ Hard work. Courage. Patience. What better qualities than those for a father to inspire in a child? For being an inspirational parent, it would be my privilege & honour if Naushad Khan would accept the gift of a Thar,” Anand Mahindra captioned his post on X (formerly Twitter).

Speaking of Sarfaraz Khan, the 26-year-old scored 62 runs  during his stay of 66 balls in the middle before he fell in a bizarre mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja. While his stay in the middle might be short this time, he also earned praises for brilliant shot play.

Talking of the ongoing third Test, India ended Day 1 with the scoreboard reading 326/5 and added 119 runs to their overnight score to put 445 runs on the board. But with Ben Duckett looking good in the middle, England trailed by 414 runs at Tea on Day 2 of the third Test.
