The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) is planning to build the largest stadium in India with a seating capacity of 125,000 fans in Amaravati. With this capacity, the stadium will surpass the current biggest stadium in India, Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Along with the stadium, ACA plans to host the 2029 National Games in Amravati.
Cricket is more than just a sport in India, and with the largest fan base in the world, Indian fans often struggle to find tickets to watch their favorite players in action. To address this, stadiums in India are being constructed with massive capacities, such as the Narendra Modi Stadium. Recently, the MCA announced plans to build a stadium in Mumbai with a seating capacity of 1 lakh. Now, the ACA has also joined the race, planning to construct the largest stadium in India.
ACA to build the largest cricket stadium in India
Recently, Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), ACA president and Vijayawada MP, confirmed the 200 acres of land to make the largest sports city in Amaravati. The 60 acres of land will be used to make the largest cricket stadium in India.
According to the reports, the budget to build the stadium is set for INR 800 crore. The Board of Cricket Cricket in India (BCCI) will assist the ACA financially, and some funds will be raised locally.
Moreover, the ACA is also planning to host the 2029 National Games in Amaravati, and the board is also renovating the Visakhapatnam Stadium to host the India Premier League (IPL) matches. According to Chinni, three cricket academies will also be open in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada, and Rayaseema.
Currently, Andhra Pradesh has 22 cricket stadiums, including famous venues like ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam and Indira Gandhi Stadium in Labbipet, Vijayawada.
