Former Indian legendary cricketer Anil Kumble and his wife Chetana are at the Maha Kumbh mela and are feeling blessed as they take the holy dip at the Sangam. Kumble took his official X account to share some beautiful pictures and wrote the caption "Blessed" as the couple took the holy dip and performed puja rituals at the Sangam ghat. After landing in Prayagraj on Tuesday, the couple chose to take the sacred dip on Magh Purnima, a day when no VIP etiquette is followed. He joined along with the devotees, traveling by boat to the confluence with his wife for the ceremony.

Besides Anil Kumble, many other leading sports personalities including Saina Nehwal, Suresh Raina, The Great Khali, and Mohammed Kaif paid their visit to Maha Kumbh. The Maha Kumbh Mela is the world's largest spiritual gathering, attracting millions of pilgrims at the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. The 2025 Maha Kumbh started on January 13 (Paush Purnima) and will end on February 26 (Mahashivratri).

Insight about the Magh Purnima

Magh Purnima is the custom of Kalpavas, when devotees follow fasting, self-discipline, and spiritual discourse. This year, more than 10 lakh devotees performed Kalpavas at Prayagraj's Triveni Sangam, following holy rites. According to tradition, Kalpavas ended on Maghi Purnima, February 12, when devotees took the holy dip at the Sangam and performed puja to seek blessings.

Further, on February 12, the fair area where most of the devotees, especially elite people took the holy dip was declared as "no vehicle zone" from 4am, and the entire Prayagraj city was no-vehicle zone from 5pm, except emergency and essential vehicles.

To provide immediate aid during crises, 133 ambulances have been stationed in every area where the Maha Kumbh is observed. There are a total of 125 road ambulances, one air ambulance, and seven river ambulances, which have been specially dispatched.
