Legendary Indian spinner Anil Kumble has called out the misuse of his name and image to spread fake news during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The former cricketer took to social media and requested the fans not to believe every quote and news in his name. Along with him, Sunil Gavaskar also threatened legal action against a website that published fake column using his name.

With the heat of ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, many former cricketers and experts share their opinions regarding the performance of the team and the players. As soon as any big name like Anil Kumble, Sunil Gavaskar or nay former cricketer says something for a particular player or a team, it becomes a headline for many renowned publications. However, there are also many website and social media pages that have been spreading fake information using ssome big names in international cricket.

Anil Kumble shared a post on his X account where he called out the fake new spreaders and also urged his fan to be aware of the misinformation on his name. “It has come to my attention that some social media accounts are using my image and attributing fabricated quotes to me. I want to categorically deny any association with these accounts and their content. The statements being circulated are not my views and do not reflect my opinions in any way,” Kumble wrote on his social media.

“I urge everyone to be vigilant and not believe everything they see on social media. Please verify the authenticity of any information before sharing it. My official social media channels are the only reliable source for my views and statements. Sincerely, Anil Kumble,” the former cricketer added.

Talking about Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary Indian batter has also threatened a legal acton against a website named Cricket Ception for publishing a column  under his name, with a heading ‘'A New Era in Leadership: Bumrah’s Captaincy and Kohli’s Leadership Revive Team India'.  The former cricketer clarified that he never said such a thing.
