India have lost two consecutive matches by big margins against New Zealand and Pakistan. India's campaign got off to a poor start as they lost to arch-rivals Pakistan by 10 wickets. In the second Super 12 clash, India lost to New Zealand by 8 wickets. As a result, India's semi-final hopes are almost over due to their net run rate of -1.609. Even though there's still an outside chance for India to make it to semis but that would require a number of other results to go in their favour.

As the Indian team come to terms with the likelihood of their early elimination from the T20 World Cup 2021, the wife of Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has shared a motivational message for the members of the Indian team. Notably, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are one of the most loved celebrity couples in the country.

Anushka re-shared a post by Imran Sarfaraz on her Instagram Stories which read: "Coach it's easier to build strong children than to repair broken men".

Earlier, Virat Kohli had released a statement showing solidarity with Mohammed Shami after the Indian pacer was barraged with online abuses after Team India's defeat to Pakistan. Shami did not have the best of day on the field as he conceded 43 runs in 3.5 overs in the match.

Backing his teammate, Kohli had said, “Attacking someone over their religion is the most pathetic thing that a human being can do. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion and what they feel about certain situations. But I have never ever thought of discriminating [against] anyone over their religion.”

Even Kohli himself has also received some backlash with people blaming Kohli's captaincy for Team India's poor display at the showpiece event. India will need to win all their remaining matches with a big margin if they are to improve on their NRR and also need the other results to go in their favour.
