Rajasthan Royals' Kartik Tyagi became a household name among the fans following the Indian Premier League. While the young pacer was trusted with the job of defending just four runs in the final over against Punjab Kings, he executed his skills to perfection and gave away just a single in the 20th over to help his team register an improbable win by 2 runs.

His performance was particularly impressive as the Punjab Kings batters were set and looked to be cruising towards a win at one stage but Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hooda got out and Fabian Allen failed to get bat on ball in Tyagi's plan of constantly bowling wide yorkers in the final over. So impressive was his performance that even India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah could not help but leave an appreciation post for Tyagi whom he had mentored during India's tour of Australia in 2020-21 where the RR pacer was included as a net bowler.

"What an over, #KartikTyagi! To maintain a cool head under that kind of pressure and to get the job done, great stuff, very impressive! #PBKSvRR #IPL2021," Bumrah wrote soon after the match.

Tyagi too was quick to respond to Bumrah's tweet and even termed the Gujarat cricketer as his hero.

"It feels so great to get appreciation from my hero," the 20-year-old replied.

Here is what Tyagi responded:

"Feeling happy. I was injured during the India leg of IPL 2021, and when I recovered the tournament got cancelled. Very happy to get the chance today. I have spoken to seniors for the last few years. Everyone has said that game can change anytime. I knew I have the death-overs skills," Tyagi said after he received the Player of the Match at the post match presentation.

As a result of the win, the Men in Pink have now reached number five position on the points table with eight points from as many matches. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians, who are looking at an unprecedented hat-trick of titles, also have the same number of points but are placed fourth due to a slightly better net run rate.

Rajasthan Royals' next game is against Delhi Capitals on Saturday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
