In a tragic turn of events from the world of football, Camilo Nuin, the Argentine teenage footballer, who played as a midfielder, died during knee surgery on Wednesday, June 25. The 28-year-old was playing for second division side San Telmo since 2022 after having been a part of Boca Juniors and independent youth academies in Argentina, while as of this writing, the cause of his death has not been disclosed to the public.
As per the report from ESPN, the procedure on the knee of Camilo Nuin, a common one across sports, was carried out to take care of his meniscus and cruciate ligament injuries, to restore joint stability. Although, it wasn’t a success due to unforeseen reasons, and it led to the untimely death of the Argentine teenage footballer, which has sent shockwaves in the footballing community at large.

In their official statement, San Telmo wrote on the passing of Camilo Nuin, “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Camilo Ernesto Nuin, a player in our youth and reserve divisions, who was undergoing surgery today. The club will remain closed today as a sign of mourning. We join his family, friends, and team-mates in this difficult time and remain at their disposal for anything they may need.”
Meanwhile ,the Argentine Football Association (AFA) also addressed the death of the teenage sensation, “The Argentine Football Association, through its president Claudio Tapia and executive committee, expresses its sorrow at the death of Camilo Nuin and extends its condolences to the player's family.” While there is no information on whether the reason for Camilo Nuin’s passing will be disclosed to the general public, hopefully, his family and loved ones get all the support in their time of grief.
