The sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) went underway on Friday with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. GT captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first. CSK were on the course to post a massive total as Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a 50-ball 92 but some good recovery from GT bowlers helped them restrict CSK to 178/7 in 20 overs.

In reply, GT too got off to flying start as Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill scored 37 runs before the GT wicketkeeper batter perished to Rajvardhan Hangrekar. But before all of this got underway, a star-studded opening ceremony took place at the world’s biggest stadium. Renowned Bollywood singer Arijit Singh also entertained the audience with his electric performance.

While the audience was glued to the screen, Singh was spotted touching CSK captain MS Dhoni’s feet. Pictures of Arijit Singh bowing down before Dhoni and touching his feet have gone viral on social media.
