In one of the latest developments from the world of football, it is understood that Arsenal have started talks with RB Leipzig to sign Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko in the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old has a release clause worth £67.4 million in his current contract with the German club, which is why it is reportedly unknown whether Arsenal have the capacity to afford him, but regards, the two clubs are currently discussing the potential transfer.
As per the report published in Sky Sports recently, Arsenal were interested in paying the transfer fee for Benjamin Sesko as per an alternative payment structure, which will not allow them to negotiate better for him, but also give RB Leipzig the option to get more money for the player. Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, is very keen in regards to bringing the Slovenian on board despite the club having an interest in going after Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon this summer.
Arsenal had made offer to RB Leipzig to sign Benjamin Sesko last summer as well
It was last summer when Arsenal had made an offer to RB Leipzig to sign Benjamin Sesko, but the German club had turned them down at the time, and the instance repeated again in the January transfer window earlier this year. But now, with the Gunners being desperate to sign a marquee striker after finishing in second place for the third season in a row in the Premier League, the deal just might go through in the summer transfer window.
In the 2024-25 season, Benjamin Sesko scored 13 goals apart from providing five assists in 33 matches in Bundesliga, but despite that, RB Leipzig finished in seventh place in the league, finishing outside of the European spots. The current contract of the 21-year-old with the German club is until 2029, which he had signed with them in the summer of 2023, leaving RB Salzburg for £20 million.
