On Friday, August 23, England great Ashley Cole got appointed as the assistant coach of the men’s football team alongside interim manager Lee Carsley, who replaced Gareth Southgate earlier. The English Football Association (FA) made the announcement, which would mean that he will be preparing the players for their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches next month.
England are slated to take on Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on September 7 before facing Finland at Wembley Stadium on September 11 in the UEFA Nations League. Ashley Cole will be joined by Joleon Lescott along with FA’s head of coaching Tim Dittmer in the English setup.
This trio worked alongside Lee Carsley with the England U-21 Euro-winning squad from the year 2023, who defeated Spain in the final 1-0 in Georgia.
