India’s Annu Rani continued her brilliant run at the Asian Games 2023 as she clinched a gold with her best throw of 62.92m in women’s javelin throw. Rani registered her best throw in her fourth attempt, surpassing Sri Lanka’s Nadeesha Dilhan to become the first-ever Indian woman to win a gold in women’s javelin throw.

The 31-year-old crossed 51.99m mark in her first attempt followed by a 61.28m and 59.24m in her second and third attempt. She then took a leap over her Sri Lanka compatriot with a 62.92m throw, also registering her season best to confirm a medal position.

While this was her second Asian Games medal, with her first coming in 2014 Asian Games where she finished for a bronze.

Narender win bronze in men’s boxing

Indian boxer Narender Berwal settled for a bronze, earning the first and only medal in men’s boxing. While Berwal entered the men’s boxing +92kg quarterfinal with a win on points by 5:0, he lost to Kamshybek of Kazakhstan 5:0.

On the other hand, India’s Sachin Siwach was knocked out in Men’s 57kg after an upset by Chin’s Ping Lyu.
