Medals continued to galore on Day 11 of the Asian Games 2023 as India’s Avinash Sable took another medal on October 4, Wednesday. The 29-year-old Indian went past in the last 200m of the men’s 5000m to take the silver.
While Bahrain’s Birhanu Yematav registered the Games record with the timing of 13:17.40 with his compatriot Dawait Fikadu taking the bronze with his season best record. Sable, who finished second, clocked 13:21.09.
On the other hand, Harmilan Bains also secured her second medal at the Asian Games, with a second-place finish in the women’s 800m final. The Indian athlete clocked 2:03.75 to take home the silver, while Sri Lanka’s Tharushi took the gold with a time of 2:03.20.
Women’s 4x400m relay settles for silver
The Indian women’s 4x400m relay team settled for a silver, clocking 3:27.85 on Wednesday, October 4. With this silver medal finish, the Indian women’s quartet finished their gold winning run at the Games and failed to make it hat-trick of gold medal wins. It is to be noted that the Indian 4x400 women’s quartet had won a gold in 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018.
