Asian Games 2023 Boxing: Nikhat Zareen settles for bronze after losing to Thailand pugilist 2-3

India’s Nikhat Zareen lost to Thailand Raksat Chuthamat in a close 50kg women bout. The star women’s boxer suffered a major upset as she suffered a 2-3 loss in her semifinal match. The ace boxer gave her all against the Thai boxer but finished with a split decision in favour of the latter.

However, Nikhat made her exit from the Asian Games with an upset, the 27-year-old also sealed her 2024 Paris Olympics berth. This also brings her first loss since she became a World Champion in 2022.

Earlier in boxing, Parveen Hooda became the fourth pugilist from India to seal the Olympics berth after she assured of a medal at the ongoing Asian Games. Meanwhile, Jaismine Lomboria suffered a shocking exit as she missed the Olympics berth with referee stopping the contest in Round 2 of her bout.
