Pakistan Women will face Sri Lanka Women in the second semifinal of Asian Games at the ZJUT Cricket Field in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, on Sunday, September 24. Both teams will be aiming for a third gold medal in the sport, as Pakistan won both gold medals in the women’s category in Guangzhou in 2010 and in Incheon in 2014, whereas Sri Lanka has a gold in the men’s category and a bronze in the women’s event.

The quarterfinal between Pakistan and Indonesia was completely washed out because of rain without a ball being bowled. Pakistan are coming into this tournament on the back of a 3-0 series win against South Africa. The Women in Green lost the ODI series 2-1 but will be upbeat considering their recent whitewash in three-match T20I series. 

Sri Lanka are also on a winning run, as they comfortably beat Thailand in the quarterfinals by eight wickets in a rain affected game. Earlier, the Chamari Athapaththu-led side defeated England 2-1 in a three-match T20I series in England. The Sri Lankan side will look to get their first top two finish at the Asian Games since its addition in 2010.
