The Indian men's kabaddi team defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in the semi-final of the 19th Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, the Republic of China on October 6, Friday. The Indian team gained dominance in the game right from the beginning and defeated their rivals 61-14 to secure a berth in the summit clash of the continental showpiece. With their victory, they have assured of at least a silver medal for India in the ongoing season of the tournament.

India's win over the Pakistan team marks their  eighth final in kabaddi at the Asian Games. India failed to book their final spot at Jakarta 2018 after losing to Iran in the semi-finals. Before that,  India holds record of winning all seven gold medals since kabaddi made its debut in 1990. India will play now Iran in the final on Saturday. 

After their win,  India kabaddi captain Pawan Sehrawat said,  "We have enjoyed an upper hand against Pakistan in the last few years.  Our performance against Pakistan was a statement to Iran. We will play the same way in the final. We utilised the semi-final to prepare for our much-awaited clash against Iran."
