The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) on Sunday, July 9 named a 10-member squad for the upcoming Asian Games 2023, scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China. The two veterans of the game, Achanta Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra will lead the 10-member contingent at the Games, set to take place from 23 September to 8 October.

The squad comprises of ten members, five men and five women for both the Asian Games as well as the 26 th  edition of the Asian Championships in Pyeongchang, Korea. Sharath Kamal will spearhead the men’s contingent which also features names like Harmeet Desai, G Sathiyan,  whereas Manika Batra will lead the women’s team comprising of Sreeja Akula, and three others.

Sharath Kamal to hang his boots after final attempt at Paris Olympics  

India’s ace table tennis player Sharath Kamal has been defying all odds and no looks to call off his elusive career of 25-long years just before giving a final shot at the Paris Olympics. The 41-year-old, who became the national champion for a record 10 th  time aims to finish off high in 2024. “For me the main goal more than 2023 is 2024, and I hope I can finish it off with the (an Olympic medal),” Sharath said as quoted by Economic Times.

Women’s: Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula, Sutirtha Murkherjee, Ayhika Mukherjee, Diya Chitale (Reserve: Archana Kamath, Reeth Rishya)
