The Indian contingent started strong on Day 2 of the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. The Indian rowers created history as the men’s doubles sculls pair of Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh clinched a historic silver on Sunday, 24th September 2023.

The men’s pair of Jat and Singh, narrowly missed the gold, trailing behind hosts China in the Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls on Sunday. The India duo sealed the silver after they had previously finished 11th at the Tokyo Olympics, clocking impressive six minutes and 28.18 seconds in Final A.

 

The Chinese pair of Fan Junjie and Sun Man clocked six minutes and 23.16 seconds to clinch the gold, Uzbekistan settled for a bronze with a timing of six minutes and 33.42 seconds.

 

Indian rowing team seals silver in Men’s Coxed Eight event

As the day progressed, the Indian team won its fourth medal and third silver with the men’s rowing eight team securing a silver medal finish. They finished second behind China with a timing of 5:43:01. This also brought the third medal for India in rowing following Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram securing a bronze in Men’s Pair Final on Sunday.
