In dia's Srihari Natraj finished sixth in the final of the Asian Games 2023 Men's 100m Backstroke. Coming into the final, Natraj touched the pad at 54.71s to finish second in his heat and fifth overall. Coming back to the final, Natraj registered a time of 54.48s whereas China's  XU Jiayu took home the gold medal with a time of  52.23s.

Japan's  Ryosuke  Irie won the Silver while registering a time of  53.46s.  Juho Lee from South Korea took home the bronze with a  53.54s time. Finishing fourth was  Gukailai Wang of China while fifth place was taken by   Daiki Yanagawa. Rounding off the top 8,  Mu-Lun Chuang from Chinese Taipei and  Tonnam Kanteemool of Thailand. 

India's misfortune in swimming events continued as the women's team lost in the 4x100m Freestyle Relay final. The quartet of Olympian Maana Patel, Dhinidhi Desinghu, Janvi Choudhary and Shivangi Sarma finished seventh with a time of 3:54.66, 20.70s behind the winners.  China won the gold with a time of 3:33.96 while Japan took the silver after registering a time of 3:38.48. The bronze medal was won by Hong Kong with a time of 3:39.10.
