Bronze medalist at the U23 World Championships in the 65kg category last year, Nisha Dahiya won a silver medal at the Asian Wrestling Championships in the 68 kg category while her fellow Indian wrestler, Priya Malik clinched a bronze in the 76 kg category on Tuesday in the tournament being held in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Nisha defeated Asian bronze medalist Delgermaa Enkhsaikhan of Mongolia 10-10 via criteria in the quarter-finals and made a comeback to beat Olympian Feng Zhou of China to move ahead to the gold medal match.  However, in the final, her Japanese opponent, Ami Ishii proved to be too strong for the Indian wrestler, and she had to settle down for silver.

Priya, on the other hand, defeated Japan’s Mizuki Nagashima 2-1 and clinched the bronze after losing to  Kyrgyzstan's Aiperi Kyzy in the quarterfinal.  The U17 world champion defeated China’s Taipei's Hui Tsz Chang by 2-1 to move ahead of the qualifying stage.

With the latest addition of two medals, the medal count for India has reached six. On Tuesday, three other women wrestlers from India, Neelam (50 kg), Sito (55 kg), and Sarita Mor (59 kg) also competed, however, none of them could manage to grab a medal.

Apart from them, the remaining five Indian women wrestlers Antim Paghal (53kg), Anshu Malik (57kg), Sonam Malik (62kg), Manisha (65kg), and Reetika Hooda (72kg) will compete for medals on Wednesday.
