The Indian women's cricket team didn’t have a great start to their tour to Australia as the hosts defeated them by five wickets to take a lead of 1-0 in a three-match ODI series. Megan Schutt took a five-wicket haul as India were bowled for just 100 runs in 34.2 overs. In reply, Georgia Voll was the top scorer as Australia chased the winning total in just 16.2 overs after losing five wickets.

Coming to bat first after winning the toss, Indian batters couldn’t capitalize on the decision as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Both the openers Priya Punia and Smriti Mandhana went early as India lost their wickets for just 19 runs in 6.4 overs. After that, Harleen Deol (19 off 34) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (17 off 31) also failed to score big after getting a start. 

India lost six wickets for just 11 runs in first women's ODI

Jemimah Rodrigues turned out to be the top scorer for India as the right-hander got 23(42) with one boundary. Apart from that, none of the other batters could score big as India lost their last six wickets for just 11 runs, and India were bowled out for 100 runs. Fast bowler Megan Schutt registered figures of 5/19, while Kim Garth, Ashleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland, and Alana Kings scalped a wicket each. 

Chasing the winning total, Australia women's cricket team got a flying start as Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll put up an opening partnership of 48 runs in just 6.5 overs. Litchfield got out after scoring 35(29) with eight boundaries, while Voll remained unbeaten on 46*(42) runs with six fours and a maximum as Australia won the match with 202 balls to spare. For India, Renuka Singh took three wickets, while Priya Mishra scalped two wickets as well.
