When it comes to the T20I format, then someone like Australia have almost always played the format with a great amount of destruction and pure intent. How could any batting list be rendered complete sans the great 'Punter' of Australian batting? For such dismissive and attacking was Ponting pretty much all throughout his Australian career?
Easily, one of the three Australian players who scored a fifty on their T20I debut, Ponting struck a whirlwind 98 not out and that too, against archrivals BlackCaps. This was a blistering knock that happened way back in 2005, when actually not too many games of that format were held.
But Ponting faced just 9.1 overs out in the middle, as a batter to be precise, to score 98 unbeaten runs hitting eight boundaries and five sixes. He faced the bowling of Tuffey, Mills and Cairns back then to hit the first of his T20I fifites; he'd end up scoring another later on.
2. David Warner - 89 (43) vs South Africa, Melbourne, (2009)
David Warner has risen to become an icon of the game of sorts and even today, his name is widely taken when considering the pre-eminent batters where it comes to the sport's briefest format and in particular, the widely popular and growing T20 franchise leagues around the world.
Warner arrived on the scene in a big and dashing way scoring back in 2009 in a T20 international contested against the Proteas, 89 valuable runs that came off 43 deliveries.
This was a contest played in home conditions for Warner, the MCG being the epic venue of a superior knock that featured seven fours and six sixes. In that contest, one that the Aussies won, not only did Warner (3200 plus T20I runs eventually) hit six sixes, but played at a strike rate north of 206.

3. Mitch Owen - 50 (27) vs West Indies, Kingston, (2025)
Mitch Owen happens to be one of the three Australian players who scored a fifty on their T20I debut. He just recently, only hours ago, hammered West Indies at their own backyard, playing at Sabina Park, in Jamaica on way to a great 50 run knock that came off just 27 odd deliveries.
His first ever half century starred in a winning cause, and the man who has won a few player of the match awards in the Big Bash League in Australia also seemed relatively unflustered against Alzarri Joseph's pacier short pitched bowling, nearly always seeming in good command against noted spinners who hold respect in the game - including Motie and Akeal.
A tall lad who can hit effectively off the front foot and can aggressively pull over mid-wicket, Owen is fearless and clearly a latest concerning figure with the bat for the world's bowlers.
