The Ballon d'Or 2022 ceremony is scheduled to take place on Monday, October 17 as Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is expected to win his maiden best footballer of the year award followed by Bayern Munich's Sadio Mane and Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski, who played for Liverpool and Bayern Munich respectively in the last season.
Apart from the men's award, the award ceremony, which is presented by France Football, will also feature women's Ballon d'Or, Kopa Trophy for the best player under the age of 21, and Yashin Trophy for the best goalkeeper.

The record seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, Lionel Messi failed to make it among the 30 nominees for the 2022 award for the first time since 2005. However, his counterpart Cristiano Ronaldo was included in the list for his stellar second spell with Manchester United in 2021.
