Preview:

Team India will square off against Bangladesh in the first match of the three-match ODI series on December 4 (Sunday) at Shere Bangla National Stadium, in Dhaka. Since T20 World Cup 2022, senior members of the Indian team consisting of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and others are back in the squad, and the full-strength side will participate in the Sunday clash.

Meanwhile, Litton Das has replaced injured Tamim Iqbal as Bangladesh skipper and will lead the team against India.

Pitch Report

The pitch in Dhaka is widely known for being spin-friendly and slow. Playing shots might get tricky as the match progresses, and batters should be careful while taking on the spinners once they have survived the spell of the pacers. The average score at this venue remains 241 in ODIs.

Team Analysis:

India

After missing the New Zealand tour, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul will be in action. Rishabh Pant will attract a lot of eyes after a poor outing in New Zealand. The wicketkeeper batter will be keen to shut down his critics who have been questioning his inclusion in the white-ball squad.

Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Deepak Chahar will form the middle order, as Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are not part of the squad. Mohammed Shami has been ruled out with an injury and Umran Malik has been named as his replacement.

Bangladesh:

Litton Das will be critical for Bangladesh as he will not just lead the squad but has scored the most runs in ODIs this year. In 10 games, Das has amassed 500 runs at an average of 62.50. The exclusion of Tamim Iqbal is a significant blow to Bangladesh. Prolific allrounder Shakib Al Hasan will be instrumental for the side, as the veteran cricketer has tremendous experience and can make an impact both with the bat and ball.

With 6755 runs and 285 wickets under his belt, Shakib can be a game-changer for the host. Mahmudullah Riyad is another experienced batter in the squad, with an average of nearly 36 in the ODIs. Musftafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, and Ebadot Hossain will be key in the bowling department.

Probable Playing XIs:

India: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Siraj

Bangladesh:  Litton Das (Captain), Anamul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wicketkeeper), Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Yasir Ali, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Hasan Mahmud, Mustafizur Rahman, Ebadot Hossain
