Bangladesh have been handed a major blow ahead of their upcoming tour of Zimbabwe in July. With most of the star players currently playing in Dhaka Premier League as part of their preparation plan, BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin has revealed that one of the senior members has requested to withdraw from the T20I series against Zimbabwe.
We are yet to take a decision: BCB
Bangladesh's chief selector Minhajul Abedin confirmed that it is senior wicketkeeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim who has requested to pull out of the series. "Mushfiqur called me today and wanted to opt out from the T20 series against Zimbabwe,'' said Minhajul said in a conversation with Cricbuzz. It was confirmed that Rahim will be available for the one-off Test and ODI series.
While BCB have not yet taken a final decision in this regard, he added that they must respect the decisions of players in such cases considering how tough bio-bubble fatigue has been on players. The request of Rahim is likely to be accepted to keep him fresh and ensure his availability for upcoming games against Australia and New Zealand.
