The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027 is reportedly set to take place from October 4 to November 21 that year. As per reports from ESPN Cricinfo, the tournament that will be hosted across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia will run in between the aforementioned dates. According to the source, the dates were decided during the ICC board meeting in Ahmedabad in May with the finalized dates to be confirmed at the ICC’s AGM next month in Edinburgh.

Reports suggest that a total of eight venues in South Africa will host a bulk of the games. These venues are Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Centurion, Durban, East London, Gqeberha, Johannesburg, and Paarl. Apart from them, Zimbabwe will host eight to ten games while Namibia are reportedly set to host three games with Victoria Falls joining Harare Sports Club and Queens in Bulawayo.

South Africa to host first ODI World Cup since 2003

This is for the first time since 2003 that South Africa will host the ODI tournament though it has hosted the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2009 Champions Trophy, and the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup. The other two hosts, on the other hand, recently co-hosted the Under 19 men’s World Cup. The tournament will return to its 14-team tournament after being played between 10 teams in the previous two editions.

For the event, teams will be divided into two groups of seven before the top three teams of each group advance to the Super Six stage. Since South Africa and Zimbabwe are full members, they will qualify automatically, but Namibia are set to undergo the qualification process.
