Barcelona midfielder, Dani Olmo has been ruled out for the next four to five weeks due to an injury to his right hamstring. The Spain international played a key role in Barcelona’s 4-1 win against Girona on Sunday, September 15. However, Olmo was substituted after he sustained the injury which eventually ruled him out for almost a month. This means that Olmo will miss the opening matches of the Champions League against Monaco and Young Boys.
Apart from this, he will also miss Barcelona’s next few games and UEFA Nations League matches for Euro 2024 winners Spain. Notably, Spain is set to face Denmark and Serbia early next month. He might make his comeback for the Bayern Munich encounter on October 23 or El Classico clash against Real Madrid on October 27. Olmo scored three goals in as many games after joining Barcelona from RB Leipzig this summer.
He is expected to be unavailable for next 4-5 weeks: Barcelona FC
The club conducted fitness Tests on Olmo on Monday, September 16 after he sustained a hamstring injury a day before. "Tests conducted this Monday morning on Dani Olmo have revealed that the Barcelona forward has injured his right hamstring," informed Barcelona in a statement on their official website. "He is expected to be unavailable for the next four to five weeks," the statement further read.
“It comes as a blow to the team and player after Olmo had so quickly slotted in his new life at the club and under manager Hansi Flick, scoring in his first three league games, the first time a new player has done that since 2011, and helping the team to maintain what up to now has been a one hundred per cent record in the competition,” Barcelona added in their statement.
Notably, Barcelona has played five games in the ongoing La Liga 2024-25 season and has won all their matches so far. They sit at the top of the points table with 15 points, four points ahead of second placed Atletico and Real Madrid, who occupy the second spot with 11 points each.
