Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali has issued a warning to Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal amidst his tough run with the bat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He advised Jaiswal to focus on his game to avoid fate like Prithvi Shaw, who was reckoned to become a great name for Team India in international cricket. Jaiswal lost his form after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. In five matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, he has scored only 107 runs at a strike rate of 127.38. There have been three instances in the marquee T20 tournament when the southpaw couldn’t score in double digits.
Noting Jaiswal’s underwhelming show, RR fans are criticising him and recently Basit also joined the Pink Army's supporters. The former Pakistan player possesses the opinion that Jaiswal is satiated with his career and he isn’t focusing on cricket nowadays. "His stomach has filled. Jaiswal isn't focusing on cricket. This is my open message: Cricket can make you cry a lot. Look at Prithvi Shaw. Love cricket and bring passion," said Basit on his YouTube channel.
Yashasvi Jaiswal delivered flop show for RR against GT in IPL 2025
RR lost to Gujarat Titans by a huge margin of 58 runs against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 9. The first IPL champions were tasked to chase down the score of 218 runs and they required their opener Jaiswal to be merciless against bowlers to hand victory to the side.
However, the southpaw fell to Arshad Khan in the second over of the game, scoring six off seven. The innings from skipper Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmeyer helped RR take the game until the last over and post 159 runs in reply to GT’s massive total. RR will host in-form Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on April 13. Royals will play their maiden game of the season in Rajasthan.
