The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) released a statement on Saturday, May 11, about currently being in active and ongoing discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about sending their national team to Pakistan for the five-match T20I series beginning on May 25. With the border tensions between Pakistan and India on the rise, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) got postponed, and amid that backdrop, the BCB is yet to decide on the upcoming tour.

Prior to stating the current situation regarding the Pakistan tour, the BCB confirmed that their men’s cricket team will travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to compete in a two-match T20I series, as per the report from Cricbuzz. The first of two matches will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday, May 17, before the second and final match of the series goes down at the same venue two days after.

The official statement from the BCB about their commitment to play cricket with UAE, with the decision on travelling to the gulf country for a T20 series, read, “As part of its continued commitment to international engagement and preparation, the Bangladesh National Team will tour the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a two-match T20 International series against the host nation as scheduled. The series is set to commence next week.”

At the same time, the BCB directors met at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, to discuss the current circumstances concerning the Pakistan tour. The official statement on the matter read, “The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in active and ongoing discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the Bangladesh National Team's forthcoming tour of Pakistan.”

“The BCB wishes to reiterate that the safety and security of its players and support staff remain the Board's highest priority. All decisions concerning the tour will be made with careful consideration of the current situation in Pakistan, ensuring they align with the best interests of the team and Bangladesh cricket,” it further read.
