BCCI bought Neeraj Chopra's javelin for INR 1.5 crores during e-auction in 2021: Reports

The proceeds of the e-auction, which was held between September and October in 2021, went to 'Namami Gange Programme'.

According to a report in PTI, Olympic gold medallist, Neeraj Chopra’s Javelin, which he gifted to PM Narendra Modi and was part of an e-auction in 2021, was bought by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The Indian cricket board reportedly placed the winning bid of ₹1.5 crore for the javelin in the e-auction which had Prime Minister Narendra Modi's collection of mementos. Notably, Chopra had himself presented one of his javelins to Narendra Modi when Prime Minister hosted Indian athletes after the Tokyo Games.

The proceeds of the e-auction, which was held between September and October in 2021, went to  'Namami Gange Programme'.

Launched in 2014, the ‘ Namami Gange Programme'  integrates the efforts to clean and protect the Ganga river.
