India have reportedly entered the race to host the World Test Championship (WTC) 2027 final. England have hosted a couple of finals of the distinguished Test tournament. After witnessing two editions of the WTC final thus far, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expressed its intention to take the marquee event outside England. As per a report from The Guardian, BCCI is all set to present a bid to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in the upcoming English summer. With Jay Shah and Arun Dhumal possessing crucial positions in ICC, the bid will have its own importance. Dhumal, who is BCCI’s CEO and also India’s ICC representative, is expected to be crucial to the proposal’s presentation.

“The Guardian has learned that India expressed their intention to bid for the 2027 final at a meeting of the ICC’s chief executives committee in Zimbabwe last month. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is represented on the ICC committee by its chief executive, Arun Singh Dhumal, while his predecessor Jay Shah is chair of the ICC, so a formal Indian bid would be regarded as a fait accompli,” claimed The Guardian report.

Australia and South Africa to clash against each other in WTC final 2025

Australia and South Africa will be contesting against each other for the illustrious Test mace in the WTC final 2025. From June 11 to 15, England will be hosting another installment of the final in London. Australia will be defending the title under Pat Cummins while the Proteas will look to showcase their mettle under Temba Bavuma.

In 2023, Australia defeated the Rohit Sharma-led India by a huge margin 209 runs at the iconic Oval and lifted the mace for the first time. Cummins, who has guided the Aussie side to the WTC 2023 final and Cricket World Cup 2023 success so far, will look to be at his best in the leadership role again to help his team script history in the upcoming game.
