The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly questioned Team India head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma over their loss in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. The cricket governing body officials had a discussion with the coach and the captain following the heartbreaking loss in the summit clash of the mega event. The meeting took place on Thursday, November 30, which was attended by Dravid physically and Rohit attended it virtually.

The reports by Dainik Jagran state that the BCCI Chief, Jay Shah, Vice President, Rajeev Shukla as well as Treasurer, Ashish Shelar attended the review meeting. In the meeting, the officials asked Dravid and Sharma about India’s average performance in the final of the World Cup 2023 on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Dravid responded to the questions and blamed the Narendra Modi Stadium pitch for the same. He said that the pitch didn’t turn out as it was expected and hence, the Indian bowlers couldn’t stop their rival batters. Notably, the hosts faced a disheartening six-wicket loss after being undefeated throughout the season.

Dravid was appointed Indian men’s team’s head coach in 2021, and his tenure came to an end after the World Cup 2023 loss. While there were reports that Dravid didn’t want to extend his tenure, the BCCI announced the tenure extension of support staff as well as the head coach. However, Dravid is yet to sign the papers officially.
