The ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 will commence on Thursday, October 5 with the opener between England and New Zealand as a rematch of the 2019 World Cup final. Ahead of the quadrennial showpiece, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced free drinking water for the spectators in the World Cup matches across all the venues in India.
Jay Shah took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and announced, " Exciting times ahead as we anticipate the first ball of @ICC @cricketworldcup 2023 ! I am proud to announce that we're providing FREE mineral and packaged drinking water for spectators at stadiums across India. Stay hydrated and enjoy the games! Let's create unforgettable memories during CWC 2023!"
Earlier reports emerged that the BCCI was looking to collaborate with the Coca-Cola company to provide free drinking water during the ODI World Cup. Additionally, BCCI also talked with the state associations about the housekeeping, toilets, and hygiene of their respective cricket stadiums.
Hosts India will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia on October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. On the other hand, Pakistan will face the Netherlands in their World Cup opener on Friday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The highly-anticipated India versus Pakistan clash will take place on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
