As the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is approaching its end, the cricket fanatics are already looking forward to witnessing India’s battle against Australia in the World Test Championship final from June 7. Team India is gearing up for the upcoming international tournament at the Oval in England. Post that, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are reportedly planning to give rest to the key players during India’s home series against Afghanistan.

Looking at the hectic schedule of Team India players, there have been speculations that the BCCI might cancel the upcoming home series. However, if reports are to be believed, the cricket regulating body in India is planning a second-string Indian squad for the proposed three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Therefore, it can be quite possible for all the senior players to omit the upcoming series. Not only this, but there are also reports that Hardik Pandya might lead the team for the forthcoming games. As per a report by PTI, this workload management is being planned keeping the upcoming West Indies tour in mind, as skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli will be given rest. 

Notably, if the Afghanistan series takes place, it will take place from June 20 to June 30. Speaking of the Indian Premier League 2023 final, the Chief of Afghanistan Cricket Board, Mirwais Ashraf is in India to attend the final game of the season. In the final summit of the tournament, we will see Chennai Super Kings taking on the winner of Qualifier 2 on May 28, Sunday in Ahmedabad.
