Ben Curran, the brother of England cricketers Tom and Sam Curran, is a step away from making his international debut after receiving a maiden call-up to the Zimbabwe squad for the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan. The son of former Zimbabwean cricketer Kevin M Curran has been quite impressive in domestic cricket in recent times, earning the opportunity to become an international cricketer just like his brothers, but for a different country.

Apart from 28-year-old Ben Curran, Zimbabwe have picked teenager Newman Nyamhuri, who is a left-arm fast bowler, in their ODI and T20I squads against Afghanistan. According to the report from Cricbuzz, the 18-year-old was exceptional with the ball in the U19 World Cup for Zimbabwe, becoming their highest wicket-taker in the tournament in South Africa earlier this year.

Ben Curran and Newman Nyamhuri have replaced three players in the ODI squad of Zimbabwe, who are namely Faraz Akram, Brandon Mavuta, and Clive Madande, with the latter suffering from a shoulder problem. The rest of the players in the squad are the same from the Pakistan series, which they lost 1-2 despite winning the first ODI at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Below are the squads of Zimbabwe for the upcoming ODI and T20I against Afghanistan:
