Football is one of the most followed sports in the world as it evokes intense emotions and gives eternal memories. From Zinedine Zidane's infamous red card in the 2006 FIFA World Cup final to Ba rcelona's historic comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League 2017, plenty of matches gave goosebumps.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France was an action-packed match featuring six goals scored in 120 minutes of play to eventually lead to the penalties, where Argentina clinched their third World Cup title. However, Kylian Mbappe's fearless performance garnered respect from all over the world as the 2022 FIFA Golden Boot winner refused to bow down in front of a dominant Argentina attack led by their skipper Lionel Messi.

Argentina legend Lionel Messi was also involved in the greatest comeback win in football history as his former club Barcelona pulled off a nearly impossible accomplishment as they defeated PSG 6-1 in the Round of 16-second leg in the UCL 2017. After losing the Parc des Princes-leg, the Catalan giants overcame a 4-0 deficit at the Camp Nou making it the largest comeback in UCL history. Brazilian star Neymar Jr was one of the main protagonists in the match as he scored two goals in the closing minutes including a sensational freekick.

However, the best football match of all time was played between AC Milan and Liverpool at the  Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey in the 2005 UCL final. Carlo Ancelotti's Milan took a three-goal lead in the first half as Paolo Maldini scored in the first minute while Hernan Crespo scored a brace in a space of five minutes to triple the Rossoneri's lead against the Reds.

In the second half, Rafael Benitez changed the formation to 3–4–2–1 as the Man of the Match, Steven Gerrard opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 54th minute. Substitute Vladimír Šmicer scored the second goal for the Reds after two minutes while former Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso levelled the game in the 60th minute as he scored a penalty, which was initially saved by the Milan goalkeeper Dida.

With just three minutes remaining in the second extra time, Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek pulled off sensational back-to-back saves to force the game into penalties. The drama continued in the penalties as Serginho, Andrea Pirlo, and Andriy Shevchenko failed to convert their penalties. Liverpool's John Arne Riise also missed his shot but the Reds completed the comeback with a 3-2 win on penalties.
