India were clear favorites to lift the ODI World Cup 2019 as they topped the table in group stage where they went onto defeat all strong sides like Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, etc. and ended up losing only to England. Opening batsman Rohit Sharma was in form of his life by smashing five ODI centuries and King Kohli also smashed five fifty plus scores in the tournament alongside brilliant bowling from Bumrah.

India played New Zealand (4th placed side) in the semi-finals of ODI World Cup 2019 and ended up losing to them in a two-day (match was played on reserve day due to washout). India's top-order failed in a critical situation while chasing an average total of 240 runs and despite Jadeja's heroics, they fell short of the target by 18 runs.

Notably, this semi-final game ended up being the last international match for the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni.
