The highly anticipated BGMI Franchise League, which was supposed to be one of the biggest tournaments in BGMI esports history, has now reportedly been called off due to a lack of team participation. This comes as a shock to fans, as this league was supposed to kick off in September in IPL style after BGMS 2025.

The BGMI Franchise League was officially announced in June 2025 by Krafton. It was supposed to be a city-based tournament with 16-24 teams, each owned by franchise partners through a bidding process.

BGMI Franchise League Cancelled—Reports

According to "Letsgrowesports," the BGMI Franchise League, which was announced by Krafton India in June 2025 by opening bids for teams, has now been called off due to incomplete franchise bidding. Despite having huge interest from top organizations and investors, 3-4 teams failed to attract any franchise buyers. Hence, as a result, all the slots didn't get filled, and unfortunately, Krafton has to call off the league.

Additional reports suggest that the BGMI Franchise League, which was named as the BGMI Champions League, is now expected to take place next year, 2026.

What happens next?

As of now, Krafton India has yet to make any official announcements on the BGMI Franchise League. However, "Letsgrowesports" further reported that the organizers are planning to conduct one more official tournament in the September-October slot in place of Franchise League.

This news was a shocker for fans, as the league was supposed to be historic and the biggest in BGMI esports history. But unfortunately, the fans might have to wait till next year for the tournament to happen. This year, Krafton India conducted two major tournaments, Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2025 in Kolkata and Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2025 in Delhi. The BGMS 2025 is set to kick off in August, and after that, fans are expecting one more official event from Krafton India.
