The 15th season of the Indian Premier League is all set to kick start from March 26, and the final will be held on May 29. IPL's Governing Council on Friday revealed specific details related to the tournament, like the tournament would take place in the bio-bubble environment in the wake of Covid 19 issues, and four venues in Maharashtra have been decided for the entire league stage.

Notably, Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium are the designated venues in Mumbai, while the MCA International Stadium in Pune will be the other venue. As per the notification, a total of 70 league matches will be held, and each of the ten franchises will get to play 14 league matches. This will include seven home and seven away games. Just like the previous editions, the 15th season will have four playoffs, followed by the final. The ten franchises have been divided into two groups on the basis of their number of championship titles and the number of finals they have played.

It has to be noted that Group A consists of Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and the Lucknow Super Giants, while Group B consists of Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and the Gujarat Titans. According to the new IPL system, each franchise will get to lock horns twice with the other four teams in their group, and they will also be playing their rival from the other group twice. At the same time, teams will play a single match with four franchises from the other group. Although cricket fans were excited to know more about the tournament, they seemed a bit puzzled over the new arithmetic regarding the fixtures.

Twitter has been flooded with numerous memes and expressions from cricket fans all around, minutes after the details were announced.
