In a strange turn of events that unfolded in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), a helicopter made a sudden landing in the middle of the stadium where the players of the Minister Group Dhaka team were practicing. The unusual event caught the players unaware and consequently there was panic and chaos as the players present at the venue tried to avoid the dust.

It is being reported that the said incident happened at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram on Sunday. The players that were practicing at the venue included the likes of Andre Russell, Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe bin Mortaza and Mohammad Shahzad who were apparently having a net session. However, as one would understand, they did not expect the chopper to land right where they were practicing.

Later, it was clarified that the helicopter had been used to airlift a critically ill patient and all the prior permissions were taken to use the airspace and the helicopter for the same. Furthermore, the District Commissioner, as well as the Sports Association, was conveyed about the same. Yet, it is being told, that the Dhaka team and even the tournament organisers were not aware of the situation which led to the players panicking.

Last week, Russell was also involved in a bizarre run out in Group Dhaka's game against Khulna Tigers. The incident happened when the fielder's throw from the short third man deflected from one set of stumps to the other to catch the West Indian all-rounder short at the non-striker's end.

This incident had happened on the opening day of the 2022 season of Bangladesh's domestic T20 tournament. Russell had just hit a six and was looking for a single off Thisara Perera as he tapped the ball towards the third man region.

However, Mehidy Hasan, the miracle-inducing man in this case, fielded the ball and hit the stumps direct at the striker's end. While Mahmudullah had made his ground at this end, the throw ricocheted off that stumps and disturbed the stumps at the non-striker's end, catching Russell short.
