In a recent development, as many as 7 players of the Indian contingent have tested positive for Coronavirus. Along with them, two staff members have also returned positive for COVID-19 on Monday, April 26. This news coming from the Indian women's hockey team. They tests were done on April 24, following a period of quarantine after their return from their respective hometown to their training base at SAI Bengaluru. The seven players who have tested positive are Rani Rampal, Savita Punia, Sharmila Devi, Rajani, Navjot Kaur, Navneet Kaur and Sushila. The support staff members who have been found positive are video analyst Amrutaprakash and scientific advisor Wayne Lombard.

However, all the said members who have tested positive are reportedly asymptomatic and have been isolated and kept under medical observation at the SAI NCOE Bangalore.

The members of the hockey team are not the only ones being hit by COVID-19. Several cases of international and domestic cricketers participating in the cash-rich Indian Premier League had tested positive for Coronavirus. With the country, continuing to register record number of daily infections, some of the stars have even decided to pull out of the tournament. Rajasthan Royals seem to be worst hit and with over 60 per cent of their matches yet to be played, they only have four overseas players remaining in their squad. The franchise is seeking to loan overseas players from other franchises for the remainder of the tournament.

Pat Cummins donates $50,000 to India's fight against Corona crisis

Amid all this, KKR speedster Pat Cummins has donated $50,000 to India's fight against COVID-19. He has even urged fellow IPL cricketers to come forward and contribute. Following his noble action, netizens have been showering praise upon the Australian speedster.
